I guess I’m looking at books more abstractly since I’ve begun collecting them digitally with over a hundred Audible books and many more ebooks; to me the valuable information is know which books I have first, what reviews and other metadata I’ve added and where they are, physical or digital. With many of these services keeping copies on their servers I often just delete audio books or Panelfly comic books off my laptop or iPhone when I’m finished with them, while I try to keep a archive of all my files on my desktop I don’t want to look in a million different places, drives and systems, I want it altogether. However, I have been able to add all these books to Delicious Library right now just fine, I tweak things like location to be ‘Audible’ and the like to fit my needs. Adding explicit support in Delicious Library, especially for some of the bigger platforms like iBooks, Audible & the Kindle would just make it easier. That said, I think your suggestion about custom types would also be very valuable, I’d love to see both features implemented if Delicious Monster decides it’s a good idea.

This is a response I wrote in a discussion asking for digital book support within Delicious Library; I would find it valuable, especially since I own significantly more digital books then physical these days and I think that will become increasingly common. Well, at least among the people who would spend time cataloging their libraries in an delightful Mac app.
