  • Aliens vs. Predator suffered from one of the most disastrous demos in recent gaming. The final release of the game both looks and plays better than the demo—at least on the PC—and the single-player provides a nice tutorial for each of the three races before you jump online to play against others. Early impressions and reviews have been all over the place, but I found myself enjoying much of the time I spent playing the game last night.

The problem, however, is that the game is filled with ideas and control schemes that all add up to a big fat nothing. It’s not that the game isn’t competent—and it’s certainly fun—it just plays it so safe with creatures, stories, and scenes and moments that we first saw in movies that have been ripped off and regurgitated for the past 15 years.
